Business Woman on the Run {A Collaboration with Toronto Fashion Academy}

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Summer is officially over and the kiddies are back to school – Hooray! Some of us ladies are returning from our mat leave back to work. Some are just back to a regular work week. Nonetheless, it’s these ladies in particular that have written me really struggling with putting together “office/business” looks. I drew upon a recent project, where I collaborated with Toronto Fashion Academy for a photo shoot located in downtown Toronto.

Our vision for the shoot was titled, “business woman on the run”. A classic well-tailored suit is a staple for the office/business lifestyle. There are two options above – the pant suit and the skirt suit. Mix and match these items for work or play. To create a more casual look, pair the blazer with a simple white tee and denim. I chose striped suits with tweed fabrics for a more playful, current and relaxed feel. Overall, the goal was to incorporate pieces that are clean and crisp with a feminine yet powerful tone. When shopping, I looked for structure, subtle prints, dashes if pink, silk, texture and interesting details. Love adding some contrast to this girly look with a tough leather jacket or an edgy shoe. A classic structured dress in a timeless colour such as cream is ideal – a great transitional piece from work to an after hours meeting at a restaurant. Working as a stylist with Toronto Fashion Academy and their incredibly talented team was the most amazing experience. For anyone that is considering attending, I highly recommend this hands on, warm and family-like environment. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you have an excellent week ahead! Warmest wishes to you all!
